MFA 2023 IDENTITY
Exhibition and academic identity developed for the 2023 MFA cohorts in Graphic Design, Painting, and Sculpture at Boston University. Devloped with Annabella Pugliese, Ash Wei, and Lucy Zou.
Our key themes for the MFA 2023 Exhibition identity were connectivity, extension beyond boundaries, and informed exploration.
For the identity we wanted to reimagine letterforms in a way that reflected these themes. We developed a letter designed with a continuous, flowing stroke and single weight that has the potential to extend beyond the box that a letter is traditionally contained in. To compliment the illustrative and expressive forms presented in the monoline strokes, we used a typeface that captured the same personality: Athletics by Family Type.
Throughout the identity, we chose to weave strokes through compositions, emphasizing directions that could extend beyond the borders of the page.
