THE DOODLE BOOK

Doodles are an instance of creative expression that are often considered amateur and unevocative – a personal exploration with no cultural or intrinsic value. To me, doodles are one of the most elemental expressions of the creative subconscious. Through the collection of essays in this book I wanted to explore why we doodle and why doodling is not considered fine art. Here, I catalogued and documented the practice of doodling in order to understand it as a valuable key to the human subconscious, and to have this be a value that is recognized in the narrative of art history.

This project was done as an editorial exercise in typesetting and book construction. The final deliverable was a one-of-a-kind publication that featured both a collection of works on the nature of doodling, corresponding artwork, and bespoke doodles in the margins.
